It’s been four years since I updated my review of this network and their listings have dropped by half. That’s a bad sign for a house swap network, especially one with such a high price tag. Exclusive Exchanges has updated their website somewhat.  They used to offer points-based swapping, but that no longer shows up as an option described in the new member information, however it is still a search option “credit exchange plan” so perhaps that feature is still supported.

Searching: Searches offer the option of selecting direct swap or points-based swap, the number of bedrooms, and the location selected from geographic drop downs that go to the city level in countries with sufficient listings. No further filters are available on the searches.

Listings: The search results include a large picture and information on the size of the properties as well as desired destinations of the owner. The detailed listings are very readable and include a map, additional pictures, amenities and information about the owner.

This site offers the following variations on house swapping:

  • simultaneous or non-simultaneous house swap – this is the traditional model where two parties swap houses for an agreed upon set of dates. Non-simultaneous works best with second homes, but is also useful for people going on vacation and leaving their home empty. In this case each party picks different dates for the swap.

Site design: Clean responsive site.

Additional features: As an exclusively luxury home site, the listings are high end properties in traditional vacation destinations. Although the FAQ makes it sound like anyone can become a member and criteria for “luxury home” is not firm. There is a messaging function within the website and a money back guarantee if you don’t find a swap the first year.
