Peer to Peer Travel News: December 2017

peer to peer travel news

These days new sharing economy travel companies launch every week, and I sometimes discover established businesses that I had missed. All of these get added to my spreadsheet of sharing economy travel services. Here’s the summary for December.

Recreational Vehicles

Two peer to peer campervan rental companies both recently expanded their services to Canada:

  • RVShare expanded their RV rental service into Canada
  • Outdoorsy expanded their RV and motorcycle rental network into Canada

Home Exchange

World Schooler Exchange is a new home swap network focused on the world schooler community (folks who home school their children through global experiences). The website started in 2016 and has 127 swap opportunities as well as some house/pet sitting, hosted stays, labor for lodging swaps and home rental listings.

Private Home Swapp is another new home exchange network. Based in Germany the site launched in 2017 and has just 18 listings so far.

Hitch Hyke is a new ridesharing service that recently launched in Miami with an Android App. Drivers can put in their routes and passengers can request a ride along those routes for either themselves or a parcel. The two negotiate the price through the app.
