I’m relaxing in the living room of my two bedroom apartment after a day of touring around Barcelona. This place is in a very central location and so far I’ve been able to walk everywhere. In addition to the usual amenities of someone’s home (fully stocked kitchen, nice bathroom, cable TV, comfy bed, laundry), this flat also has a small porch outside and use of a rather large swimming pool (part of the apartment complex).
All this was free! And, while I’m here in Spain my home is being watched by the nice fellow who lives in this apartment. We’ve been communicating regularly by SMS just to confirm we both arrived ok, and to answer small questions (like where to put the trash: in Spain it goes directly out to large bins on the street).
This is just the first stop on a month long trip of free lodging in Spain. Wondering if home exchange is a good option for you? Here’s my take on it.
