Augustus Egg: The Traveling Companions
In June I wrote about finding travel buddies using the websites and mobile apps that help connect travelers with each other. Below are some newcomers to this space. Innovation seems to be focused on mobile apps, which makes sense for travelers. But as with many other peer to peer travel businesses, number of users is tremendously important. The odds of finding a match for your travel destination, desires and dates will depend on numbers. So while it’s great to see all these newcomers facilitating peer to peer travel, it remains to be seen who can get a critical mass of users involved in their travel community. Unpaved is a travel companion app connecting you with friends and friends of friends. Currently in private release.
Tripolette helps travelers connect based on common destinations and dates of travel.
Tripstir is a mobile app launching this month connecting travelers based on destinations and dates and also providing a forum to share info and pics from previous trips.
EO is a mobile app to connect travelers and locals. It’s currently in private beta.
