Swap Our Home: New Home Exchange Network

Swap our Home

Swap our Home opened in mid-2020. Yep, right in the heart of the pandemic. I have to assume they were planning the launch pre-pandemic and so decided they had done all the work and shouldn’t delay the launch. Overall I think that’s a smart move. But the challenge is keeping members engaged while they are waiting for travel to open up.

They are offering unlimited free lifetime memberships for the first 500 people to sign up. It looks like they’ve got 226 listings so far.

The founder explains the origins of the network:

Most of SwapOurHome.Com was made by Chris (thats me). I’m an ex-Ceo of a large company that I sold a few years back.  Since selling my original company i’ve travelled a lot with my family to all sorts of different destinations around the world. Which is great to be able to do and i’m extremely greatful for.

Now that i’ve settled down in one location again, i’ve focused my efforts on building something that would allow me to share my passion for travel and meeting people around the world with others. And what better way to do that than with a home swap platform!

My goal is to make travel as accessible as possible to everyone, whilst facilitating great vacations at a fraction of the cost of traditional travel. There’s no reason we should be leaving our home empty to travel, when we could swap with someone else. It just makes sense.

That’s a great sentiment and goal. As far as distinguishing Swap our Home from the other 58 home exchange networks out there, I see a few defining features so far. They are committed to not offering a points-based exchanging model. And overall seem to be a relatively hands-off approach. I hope Chris is able to work out a successful niche for Swap our Home.

  • Thanks for posting this. I just signed up for the free lifetime membership. I can’t wait to see how this site operates differently from Home Exchange. One of our pain points on home exchange is their guest points system.
